Ashamed To Be Associated With iGatepatni.

I have been working in Patni for the past 4 years. When i joined the organisation on 2008 the notice period on resigning the job was for 1 month. The very next year it was increased to 2 months and on 2011 it was increased to 3 months. One fact which all my colleagues wittily say is that "there is no increase in the salary alone but the only  increase we got  for joining this company is notice period". previously Patni was a single organisation and it had its own set of framed policies, recently about a year back iGate merged with Patni and came to be known as iGatepatni. We as employees where very happy thinking that all the negatives policies which where there in out company would be gone and we would get employee friendly policies. But to our astonishment we got policies which were even more worst compared to Patni. I feel this has be distinguished as before merge and after merge.

IDIOTIC POLICIES:

Before Merge With iGate.

1) Bond period for Associate S/W engineers was 50k For a term of 3 years.
2) Bond period for S/W engineers was 75k For a term of 2 years.
3) Notice period after resignation for people in project was for 2 months and for people on float immediate.
4) Female employees who go for maternity can resign from home, it was not necessary for come to office to collect the experience certificates it would be couriered home.
5) Extended leaves for female employees after completion of maternity leave for child care.

After Merge With iGate.

1) Bond period for S/W engineers was 2lakhs for a term of 2 years.
2) Notice period after resignation for people in project is for 3 months this includes for people on bench as well. The company is earning a huge annual turn over i guess as it is giving slary for people on bench to serve notice period..
3) Female employees who go for maternity can resign from home, but notice period starts only form the date you join the organisation to complete the notice period.
 
On reading the above comparison all i could say was known devil is far better when compared to unknown demon in the form of an angel.

Recently i had my delivery and my ML got over on 9th Jan 2012. On 10th jan 2012 i was at home taking care of my child suddenly i found my phone ringing on picking up the call caller said hello Mrs Padma we are calling from iGatepatni. I said yes mam please tell me. The caller told me one stunning thing after which i got something closer to a heart attack. The caller told me we are calling from bombay, i asked if it was a project call they siad yes,then they told i heard from your RM that your ML got over, when are your likely to join back. I told may be in two weeks.One month later i.e on February 5th i resigned my job as per my in-laws and husbands wish for child care reasons. The very next day i got a call from my HR Sujatha Subramanian saying Padma i suppose you have resigned your job kindly join immediately and complete your 3 months notice period i immediately told what is the use in you paying a salary for 3 months for an employee who is going to be on bench knowing very well she has resigned and cannot be allocated to any project. The only word she told was this is company policy and we cannot forego, she even told with so much pride that this is the situation in many locations, but the policy is strictly followed.Till the previous day i have a strong feeling that my company will not be so stringent with the company policy for employees who had valid reasons. That was the day when all my hopes went down. After i spoke to my HR i immediately called up my husband and told him the situation. He with all hopes told me i will speak to your higher officials and explain them the situation. I was so sure that these buggers will do nothing good for employee welfare. But still i dint want to lower his confidence so let him give a try. Hence with all the emotions running high up he drafted a mail and sent it to all the higher officials in my company. The very next day we got a mail from one of the HR Ravi Kumar that Mr.Prashanth we would like to speak to our employee rather than anyone else.On seeing this reply my husband gave me all the possible training to  make me convince them. At about 3 pm the next day i had a conferance call with Sujatha and Ravi Kumar. This person just joined and told this is our company policy if you need experience letter serve the notice period else you will be marked absconded and on future referance we will give only negative remark about you.This is the situation for an employee who has worked for three full years. That moment  felt like using all possible foul words at him. But with no other option i told ok but i will join only at the end of teh month for which he said no way join immediately i really got pissed off i told i jsut cant leave my child like that and come its not as easy as you think if you can give me leave give else no issues i will join only as i want. He then spoke to Sujatha and granted me 10 days LOP. One day i had to take my child for a check up to the doctor and i explained him what had happened as he said the months 4 and above were the stages when the childs brain develops rapidly and at this stage a mother plays a vital role in giving the child the proper love and care required. He even said that on humanitarian grounds they have to consider such cases, i really wondered if they were humans humanatarian grounds will be applicable but for such people nothing will apply. Then i had to join leaving my child at home.After coming to office i came to know that these people have been so cruel to other employees aswell. Now the only thing i do in office is browse FB,chat, drink Tea, watch movies on my mobile and go back home for which i am paid monthly. That is when i decided never to join this large size sewage at any situation. Hence all young minds think before joining iGatePatni you are inviting big trouble for yourself.

  2. hi shobana, I am also facing the same situation.. I am being asked to join on 29th March 2014, my child is less than 3 months old, I am requesting for another month's extension, which I am not getting. Its really a crucial time for mother to stay with child during initial 6 months. Really very sad situation. All in the name of Policies :(
